JLA Uncovers New Canopy Inspection Service

Commercial equipment specialist JLA has added yet another layer of reassurance to its Catering offering. Alongside wider improvements to its industry-leading laundry and catering servicing portfolio, the leading service provider is now providing a canopy hood inspection service.

With increasing demand for ‘one-stop’ catering kit support from its hotel, restaurant, school and care home customers, JLA has once again responded to market needs with a new addition to its growing range of safety solutions. Having installed leading-edge cooking equipment and provided complete ground-up planning for hundreds of sites since its launch in 2013, the company’s dedicated Catering division has also gone from strength on the engineer front and is able to offer a full range of checks and maintenance solutions as a result of growth across its national mobile field teams.

The compliance-focused canopy checks will ensure that ventilation in commercial kitchens is fit for purpose, and in turn help companies guard against insurance premium hikes, litigation and even potential prosecution that can result from poor extraction equipment maintenance.

As part of the canopy/hood inspection, JLA’s engineers apply condition ratings for:
1)      Canopy dims
2)      Canopy lighting
3)      Grease filter
4)      Intake air allowance
5)      Main canopy material
6)      Amount of daily usage
7)      Extraction fan
8)      CO2 reading
9)      General observations

One-stop safety

While ensuring equipment is expelling exhaust grease and fumes from the cooking area in line with industry regulations and Health & Safety guidelines, JLA’s engineers also check overall operation to maintain efficiency and performance. Staying true to the money-saving, ‘pre-emptive’ approach its Service & Repairs department is built upon, engineers also look to identify any problems before they arise and help caterers plan required maintenance as part of an ongoing ‘asset care’ programme.

This gives customers the convenience of having a single contact to call upon for kitchen requirements, but offers them the peace of mind that comes with using the same provider that in many cases has given them long-term critical asset support in other key areas of their business.
